Wythe-Bland Community Foundation Grant for Dentist |

We are very excited to announce that our grant request was approved! In January we submitted a request for approximately $39,000 so that we could hire a locum tenens dentist to help make a dent in our exploding waiting list. We are working with the locum tenens agency to finalize plans. The dental clinic will be held for a eight week period in January to March. As stipulated by the grant guidelines, only residents from Wythe and Bland County that meet the income guidelines will be seen by this dentist. This is a large chunk of the people on our waiting list that desperately need to be seen by a dentist. The volunteer dentists that come to the Bland Ministry Center will then be allowed to serve the other clients on our waiting list. That is at least 700 people from outside of Wythe and Bland County. Our list grows daily and the needs are severe in this underserved region. We appreciate all support in our efforts to help meet the needs of the people in this region. |

3rd Annual Motor Cycle Run |

The 3rd Annual Motor Cycle Run has been set for June 21, 2008. The Run will begin at 9:00 AM at the Magic Mart in Tazewell, VA. There is a $15 registration fee and all registrations and any other donations must be mailed to Tazewell Baptist Church by Wednesday, June 11, 2008. All proceeds will go to the Bland Ministry Center. This event has been a great time in the past and we hope that you can be a part of it this year. |

The Bland Ministry Center has purchased a new pick-up truck. The last truck was run until it could run no more. A pick-up truck is vital to our food pantry, clothes closet and construction ministry. As always, we welcome any contribution, no matter what size, to help with the Lord's work in this region. Thank you for your support! |

As you previously read, the Hope and Care Gospel Concert, originally scheduled for April 26, 2008 at the Bland County football field was canceled. We are making plans and hope to have the Gospel Concert in the fall of 2008. Please stay updated by checking back at the website. We are excited to report the results of the 4th Annual Hope & Care Golf Tournament. Participation was at a high with 93 players! The winning team was Rusty Bird's team for Farm Bureau Insurance. The total profit from this fundraiser was at least $4,200.00! The date for next year's tournament has been set for April 24, 2009. It will be held again at the Wolf Creek Golf Course and Resort. Hopefully Outback Steakhouse from Princeton, WV will cater once again. Thank you to all who participated and sponsored to make this event such a success! |
